This past weekend I was at Silverstone for the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. As a treat to myself (and because I currently own no lenses longer than 200mm) I hired the Sigma 150-600mm Sport from Lenses for Hire. It’s big, it’s heavy and it’s good. Really, really good.
I did, however, have something of a brain-fart and managed to leave my spare camera batteries at home and the two in my battery grip had already done a two-week road trip through France and Spain and a bit of studio work. Thankfully, they lasted the full day but I did have to be rather more frugal on the shutter than I would have ideally liked.
Silverstone isn’t a great place for photography as a General Admission ticket holder, but there are a few good spots where you can shoot over the fence. The 600mm also made shooting through the fence possible.
The full set of images are in the Motorsport Photography section. Currently, I’m experimenting with different galleries and will hopefully get individual albums for each event soon.
